The Project
The “EUnvironemtal emergency in simple words” is a 24-months Strategic Partnership that aims to engage 100 youngsters and 20 youth workers on raising awareness and advancing comprehension towards environmental issues. Youth will be empowered to take action and become influencers for their communities towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
Studies have shown that, during the last years, young people or people in their early adolescence who are not celebrities in their countries, have become great influencers and opinion leaders with hundreds and millions of followers. A shining example of this reality is Greta Thunberg who managed to become a worldwide known activist in her early youth putting high-level politicians and decision-makers on the same table for discussions about current environmental issues. A young girl became the leader in an attempt to inspire more young people to raise their voice and start expressing their concerns with no fear or hesitation for issues that are closely related to politics. This fact is the source of our motivation for EUnvironment project. We aspire to empower young people and to create the necessary tools that we will need in order to learn and to be able to teach about green transmission.
Ultimately, the project seeks to enhance the role of the youngsters within their communities and empower them as a dynamic group who are able to publicly express structured, thoughtful and meaningful concerns for a series of issues related to politics or any other “formal/crucial” subjects. Moreover, it aims to promote a more eco-aware way of life while increasing awareness and enhance responsibility of the community and a shift to a more sustainable way of life. Lastly, the project also thrives to enhance the learning procedures by promoting non-formal education therefore enriching the educational experience with the use of non-traditional tools and innovative training methods.
